Marko Mitanovski

Photobucket

LFW 2010 spring
one to watch out for is serb designer Marko Mitanovski. the detail in the clothing is amazing, with a simple colour palette it is the cut of the garments and the textures which shine through, and of course these amazing hair antlers. absolutely love the innovation used for this show.
10/10
special note to fab blog, http://alive.tom.com/ good work.

dream & awake

Photobucket

a really great website; dream&awake.
i'm not sure if i'm a massive fan of their clothing, but i love the gallery section, especially as it features one of my favourite photographers lina scheynius, who i have blogged about before. the whole layout of the website is great, its quirky and interesting with many visual elements. it reminded me of the fantastic books, the goddess guide by gisele scanlon.
here are a few screen prints of the website:

good morning light

"good morning light is a peaceful book-maker making books and artworks of limited edition, founded by gu fan and tinkle, june 2008, based in beijing, China.
Everything we’ve done are due to love for writing, drawing, film, music and beauty of sunlight.
being simple and natural is our way."

i couldn't have described 'good morning light' any more beautifully than they did on their own website. they hold online exhibitions, and a few of the photographers really caught my eye. first of all this is justin waldron, currently living and working between new york and japan. the images which have been created i think are so special. they hold a naivety and fragility to them. i'm not sure why, but i always think there is something intriguing adn often very beautiful about a photograph of someone with a camera, it seems so insightful.

untitled magazine

i've come across this magazine 'untitled' and think it looks absolutely beautiful. it reminds me of the magazine lula which i love. delicate, soft photoshoots, with attention to typography and graphics and illustrations throughout.

OUR CITY DREAMS

"Filmed over the course of two years, OUR CITY DREAMS is an invitation to visit the creative spaces of five women artists, each of whom possesses her own energy, drive and passion. These women, who span different decades and represent diverse cultures, have one thing in common beyond making art: the city to which they have journeyed and now call home - New York. "
OUR CITY DREAMS WEBSITE

"Our City Dreams is a documentary by Chiara Clemente, who has a unique talent for making intimate portraits of people and capturing the feeling of a person's world. It follows five women artists who live and work in New York and explores not just their work but their relationship to the city they love."

this film looks beautiful. definitely one that i'll be looking out for

mother

mother's* mission: to make coca cola as renowned for summer as it is for christmas

this was the outcome:

when an infamous brand such as coca cola tries something new, it is always interesting to see what they come out with. earlier this year, the coca cola team decided that their summer adverts must be as iconic as the christmas ones.
the christmas advertisements, with the well known 'holiday's are coming' slogan create nostalgia and excitement all over the world...quite a feat to live up to.
the summer collection is different and quirky....goodness knows where they got their inspiration from, but i quite like them! shame i didn't see them over the summer, or was that just me?

cape town photoshoot

having visited cape town frequently since i was born to see family and friends, i always find it exciting when i see the beautiful cape used in advertising. though it is often used as a location for television commercials due to the amazing light, i rarely come across fashion shoots, especially that of which show the mountain so clearly. i stumbled across this amazing shoot on designscene.net. the feel is retro and and chic, with a strong model.
love it.

Mark Weaver

i love the illustrations produced by mark weaver. the delicate drawings and imagery layered on top of each other with a soft colour palette really caught my attention. i particularly like the fox head illustration, it seems to be very topical with the fantastic mr fox film having recently been released.

Anthropologie London

this week i visited the new anthropologie store on regent street. having waited long enough for anthropologie to cross the pond, it's finally here...and it's amazing.
the in-store envirmonment created by visual merchansing is truly a work of art; from the inviting window displays to the friendly giant whale suspending in the kitchen and dining area of the shop. the whole american anthropologie atmosphere has been translated so well, it felt like i had stepped off of a new york street.
one of my favourite aspects of the store is the plant wall. it creates a beautiful texure and colour palette for the store and is a really great feature.
whilst the prices of the products are pretty high, the whole store is a real experience. i'm a big fan

the whale image was taken from decor8 blog, and the image of the planted wall is my own

Lula

lula has a fabulous new website now ready for our lucky eyes. filled with beautiful short films capturing the essence of the magazine.
one of my favourite aspects of the website is the 'scrapbook' section; a little round-the-world insight from the people of lula.
one image which caugh my attention was the beautiful (once upon a time) bridget bardot...this is in aid of the promotion for an exhibiton at James Hyman Gallery on Saville Row in London.
